Our upcoming season is chock-full of opportunities for families and children, tourists, and the multicultural residents of Florence. All productions will either be performed bilingually or in English with Italian subtitles.

In February and March, F.E.S.T.A. will hold a theatre workshop, Free to be you and me, about making friends while being true to yourself, for children (ages 6-12) at St. James Church that will culminate in a small performance. Write us HERE for More information…
In April, F.E.S.T.A. unites with the British Institute and the Pergola Theatre for the British Institute’s annual tribute to Shakespeare’s birthday. This year, the week-long festival is dedicated to Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. F.E.S.T.A. has been asked to open the festival by performing scenes from the play and leading a discussion that will explore race, gender, and religion. Later that week, these 3 Institutes will collaborate on a bilingual literature and theatre workshop at the Pergola Theatre for high school students to delve into these same themes. In June and July 2010, F.E.S.T.A. presents Bram Stoker’s Dracula at the Bargello Museum, which promises to be as terrifying, seductive, and successful as last year’s Macbeth. After the run at the Bargello, Dracula will tour Tuscany and possibly make a foray to Rome. Using the same winning formula as last year, Dracula will feature professional actors from across the globe! Write us HERE for More information…
Auditions for Dracula at the Bargello will be in late January! If you are called back, callbacks will take place on the same day as auditions. Contact sidasilva@yahoo.com for an audition. Summer 2009
MACBETH: F.E.S.T.A. recently completed its production of Macbeth at the National Bargello Museum in July 2009. Macbeth was performed in English with Italian subtitles. Cast and crew featured 10 American actors, an American director, 3 British actors, 4 Italian actors, and designers from 4 countries – as well as a large technical staff of American and Italian students and professionals. Each performance was completely sold out. RAI TV, the national TV station aired footage, and there was coverage in 8 local and national newspapers.
BABY MACBETH and STAGE COMBAT CLASSES: In addition to our mainstage production of Macbeth, F.E.S.T.A. held a children's summer workshop, Baby Macbeth, teaching theatre and stage combat techniques to 40 local and third-culture children, and culminating in a small production of the Shakespearean classic. F.E.S.T.A. also organized an adult stage combat workshop, attended by American and Italian actors and a screening of Orson Welles’ Macbeth at the Odeon Cinehall in Florence.
The success of Macbeth proved to us that Florence’s citizens, ex-pats and tourists yearn for high-quality intercultural, bilingual experiences and will take advantage of them if they are there.
